• Shock absorbing lanyards must be used with the construction and industry harness for fall arrest purpose. The lanyard should not exceed 2 meters in length (including connectors); the maximum length for the shock absorber limited is 1.5m.
• To guarantee the safety of the wearer,the length of a potential fall must always be minimized with the proper gear and rigging.
• Take measures to eliminate the case that a worker may hit something during the fall, which may cause deadly harm to the wearer.
• Systems which will create a fall factor greater than 2(fall factor=height of fall/length of lanyard) must be avoided.
• Calculate the clearance distance below the anchor point to ensure that a worker cannot hit the ground.
  Clearance distance=A (lanyard length)+B (shock absorber extension) +C (distance between harness attachment and worker’s feet,1.5m)+D(safe distance from the ground, 1m).
• Rescue equipment and trained rescue workers are necessary for intervention in case of a fall.
