Roofs Terraces Inclined Surfaces And Rock Walls Safety Harness

Working on roofs or terraces during construction or maintenance always comes with the risk of slipping and consequent failing from the edge of the roof or breaking through the surface of the structure. Before you rush out and purchase a harness, you should know that there are two main types of harnesses. One is Fall or travel restraints while the other is fall arrest harness.However, the only difference between the two types is whether they have the energy absorbing system.

Fall or travel restraints, if applied properly, stop you from working at the edges of the roof. Wearing the restraint harness, you cannot reach the edge and this would prevent you from free fall. On the contrary, a fall arrest harness allows you to work on the edge of the roof, but prevent you from injury or death by absorbing and distributing the impact of the fall,as long as it is cooperating with proper fall arrest system  .

Note:There is no national roofing regulation limiting the number of roofers you can anchor to a single roof. However, you should judge reasonablely, have good knowledge of engineering principles of the roof itself, and make sure that the roofers will be safe. However, we suggest that everyone working on the roof have their own anchor point.

Restraint:Energy absorbing lanyard may be used in Restraint applications. Restraint systems prevent workers from reaching the leading edge of a fall hazard. Always account for fully deployed length of lanyard/SRL. Structure must withstand loads applied in the directions permitted by the system of at least 1,000 lbs. No free fall is permitted. Restraint systems may only be used on surfaces with slopes up to 4/12 (vertical/horizontal). Applicable D-rings: Dorsal, Chest, Side, Shoulder.

Note:For all applications: worker weight capacity range(including all clothing, tools, and equipment) is 130-420 lbs.
