• Ni-Cd battery capacity range at C5 A rate: from 7.5 Ah to 1690 Ah in 58 capacity steps
• Typical discharge range is from one hour to 100 hours

Designed for applications where the battery is required to provide:

• a reliable source of energy over relatively long discharge periods
• a current that is relatively low in comparison with the total stored energy
• discharges are generally infrequent

SBM MEDIUM POWER nickel battery range (M type)

• Ni-Cd battery capacity range at C5 A rate: from 11 Ah to 1445 Ah in 68 capacity steps
• Typical discharge range from 15 minutes to two hours
• Operate in temperatures from – 20*C to + 50*C
• Designed for applications where the batteries are usually required to sustain:
• electrical loads for between 30 minutes to three hours
• “mixed” loads involving a mixture of high and low discharge rates
• frequent or infrequent discharges
• Trouble-free long service life of 20 years or more

SBH HIGH POWER nickel battery range (H type)

• Ni-Cd battery capacity range at C5 A rate: from 8.3 Ah to 920 Ah in 51 capacity steps
• Typical discharge range is from one second to 30 minutes
• Operate in temperatures from – 20*C to + 50*C
• Designed for applications demanding :
• a relatively high current over short periods – usually less than 30 min duration
• applications can have frequent or infrequent discharges
• Trouble-free long service life of 20 years or more

Closing the loop on responsible production : Saft operates the only plant in the world that produces nickel-cadmium batteries incorporating metals that have been reclaimed on site from spent batteries, reducing their eco-footprint. Recycling Ni-Cd batteries is a complex process that involves separating the nickel, cobalt and cadmium from the electrodes, a process perfected by Safts plant in Oskarshamn, Sweden the only one worldwide involved in both the recycling and manufacturing of Ni-Cd batteries and incorporating recycled metals.

Saft operates a network of over 30 bring back points worldwide that receive spent Ni-Cd batteries produced at Saft factories, as well as those made by its competitors. The bring back point located in northern Europe brings these used batteries back to Oskarshamn, minimizing transportation. Other bring back points work with other fully permitted recycling partners selected by Saft to ensure that the recovery rates mandated imposed by the EU battery directive are met.
